How you can support local businesses

open for business

Hard work — it’s in our DNA. As West Michigan residents, we are full of grit and determination. Starting from nothing, we worked hard to build the communities we know and love today. Which is why it’s more important now than ever that we come together to support our strong lakeshore communities.

Here are a few ways that you can support small, local businesses during this time:

Follow them on social media

Follow your favorite businesses on Facebook and Instagram! Many small, local businesses have been doing a great job with keeping customers up to date on how they are handling this evolving situation. Simply sharing, commenting on and liking their posts shows your support, and helps increase their exposure.

Order takeout

We might not be dining in our favorite restaurants right now, but that doesn’t mean we can’t support them. Many local eateries have changed their business model to takeout and delivery only. Ordering food delivery and takeout from local restaurants supports small business and saves jobs. And, if you can, pay it forward and tip a little more than usual.

Shop online from local retailers

A simple way to support your favorite local business or boutique is to visit their website and shop online. See something you want to purchase from their Facebook or Instagram page? Reach out to them and inquire about curbside pickup or home delivery.

Buy gift cards

Purchasing gift cards for local restaurants, boutiques and shops is a great way to support your favorite small businesses when they need it most. Order your gift cards over the phone, online or by email, and enjoy spending them later on!

If your business or a local business you know has an online store, let us know! Send us a note at advertising@hour-media.com.
