In October, I had lunch with a friend at Havana Grill in Holland. I’d heard only great things about this Latin American restaurant and was so excited to check out the diverse menu. Specializing in cuisine from a variety of Latin cultures, Havana Grill serves up authentic Mexican, Caribbean and South American dishes.

Now, full disclosure — Latin fare is my absolute favorite cuisine, so I might be a little biased here. But let me tell you, Havana Grill did not disappoint.

I tried the pupusa platter — two thick corn tortillas stuffed with savory pork, beans and melted cheese, served with a side of curtido (lightly fermented cabbage relish), Mexican-style rice and beans. Delicious is an understatement — the meal was super filling, and I took about half of it back home with me.

My friend ordered a Miami classic — the Cubano. Her sandwich was topped with marinated pulled pork, ham, pickle, mustard and Swiss cheese, and served with a side of fries. I, of course, snuck a bite and can also say that this dish is a must-try.

Because Havana Grill’s menu is so extensive, there quite literally is something for everyone to try. I’d definitely recommend this spot for anyone visiting Holland. Salud!
