In July, I participated in a new, walking food tour of downtown Holland, called Holland Tasting Tours. I was intrigued at the concept of a food tour in my town and I just had to check it out! I’ve lived in Holland for six years now and was curious what a food tour would offer for a local like me.

My tour consisted of myself and five other participants, all of whom were from the West Michigan area. Linda Kaiser, the owner of the tour, was our guide. Throughout the three-hour experience, we noshed our way along Eighth Street, sampling dishes and treats from seven local establishments. I even tried my very first Nutty Paddle Pop from the Holland Peanut Store, and let’s just say, it won’t be my last.

The tour also provided insight into the history and culture of Holland. Linda really knows her Holland history, and came prepared with historic photos and maps for us to view on her tablet. I definitely had several “aha!” moments along the way.

Whether you’re looking for a way to entertain out-of-town visitors or want a fun date-night idea, Holland Tasting Tours will teach you something while feeding your appetite.
