In February, my husband Todd and I stopped by Isabel’s Market + Eatery in Douglas one afternoon for a mini getaway. Isabel’s opened in September last year and has a bakery, deli, meat and seafood counter, fresh pastas and sauces; and daily breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, and soups and salads (it’s got it all). It also sells some pretty unique items that you may not usually find at the grocery store, with an emphasis on supporting local vendors.

We tried the spicy fried chicken sandwich and the grilled ham and cheese — they were both delicious! We also got a couple of drinks; I had a fresh margarita (which also was delicious) and Todd got a draft beer. The market is pretty well-known for the variety of wines it sells, and at good prices. They also make a killer bloody mary!

In the entrance, Isabel’s displays its fresh baked goods, and all of them looked amazing. We split the cinnamon roll, which was probably the best one we’ve ever had. And trust me — Todd loves his cinnamon rolls, and has tried many.

The market also has a venue space where it hosts cooking classes (with a limited capacity for now), and it hopes to soon host wedding receptions, showers and other events. We had such a great experience and we definitely plan on going back.
