Back in June, I went out for lunch at StrEATs Taco Kitchen, a new taco place in downtown Zeeland located just across from the splash pad. Anyone that knows me knows I’m a major taco connoisseur, so to say I was excited to check this place out was an understatement.

StrEATs, a nontraditional street taco kitchen, serves up “authentically inauthentic” tacos from street corners across the world. Flavors range from Korean-inspired beef short rib tacos to the American cheeseburger tacos.

In addition to tacos, you can order the StrEATs tots, made with a signature seasoning and served with a variety of dipping sauces. Pro tip: You’re going to want to order the tots.

I tried three different tacos: the Amalfi Coast, made with pesto chicken, lettuce, mozzarella, tomatoes, toasted pine nuts, pesto mayo and a balsamic reduction; the Seoulful, which has Korean-style, marinated short rib and a Szechuan peppercorn jicama slaw; and the Mexico City Pork, made with smoked Chipotle pulled pork, grilled pineapple, grilled onions, salsa verde and cilantro.

Honestly, the hardest part was picking which tacos to order. All of them sounded great, and the three I tried were no exception. I also had the strawberry basil lemonade mocktail, which was super refreshing and a great way to cool off on a steamy summer afternoon.

Another thing I find pretty cool about StrEATs is that its products are compostable — food, cups, containers, straws, silverware, napkins and tray liners are all 100% compostable. You can even bring in a recycled item, like an aluminum can or water bottle, and the staff will recycle it for you.

I’m already looking forward to my next visit and deciding on which three tacos to try next.

If you’re looking for your next favorite lunch spot, StrEATs is it.
