You gotta try The Tap Room

Last month, I visited The Tap Room, a Holland icon that’s been serving locals for many years. It’s an old bar and restaurant with great food, Club Keno and cold drinks. I had been to The Tap Room years ago, and this was my first visit back in a long time. The place was remodeled recently and has a fun, upbeat vibe with plenty of cocktails, beer and comfort food.
When it comes to food, The Tap Room specializes in hot dogs, but they’re not your average dogs. There are so many unique and fun hot dog combos to choose from — it was hard to pick just one! I went with the Chihuahua. All of the hot dogs are the Nathan Famous brand — which are already amazing — and this particular one included taco-seasoned ground beef, nacho cheese, green chilis, chipotle aioli, cilantro and crushed Fritos. I would never have thought to put all of these toppings on a hot dog, but it was absolutely delicious!
The Tap Room’s menu has 13 specialty dogs and a build-your-own (The Birthday Suit) dog. The Tap Room puts its own spin on unique combinations and fun names, and all hot dogs are served in doggie bowls. There’s also pizza, nachos and fries on the menu.
I definitely need to make it back there to try one of the other specialty “Tap Room Dirty Dogs,” such as the No Diggity, No Dog; The Chicago Fancy; or Italian Stallion!
